"Naturalism is an art form that replaced Romanticism. In Musée d'Orsay we follow the development of art from Naturalism to Impressionism. Naturalism depicted the most mundane scenes in Nature, no drama, no panorama, just plain simple as nature is at the front of your feet. In Norway we got Neo-Romanticism, which depicted mundane, everyday scenes from the Norwegian countryside. By time the Norwegian Neo-Romantics came close to French Impressionism, ending with Nicolai Astrup. My favorite is Jacob Gløersen though, an early Neo-Romantic Naturalist, as he loved winter and the non-dramatic landscapes of Eastern Norway." - PermaLiv
