As followers of this blog know is Stockholm, after the destruction of Oslo Seaside, now my only remaining capital, with the city's position as the capital of the Nordic countries. Oslo is beyond hope, while for Stockholm I've a lot of hope. First of all I'll work to make Gamla stan the world's first official Market Town, earlier known as Village Towns. I will cooperate with Arkitekturupproret, the Village Stewards and the municipality of Stockholm to realize this vision. Actually Gamla stan is very close to become a Market Town, with its many plazas and narrow, car free streets. And it doesn't need a wall as a border to restrict sprawl, because it is situated on a small island with water all around. The only real obstacle to get rid of is the traffic from Södermalm to Norrmalm, as there around a Market Town needs to be a Green Belt. The best and fastest way to achieve this goal is in my opinion simply to shut down the roads and start planting greenery upon them. Then people will start using the subway, and the remaining transport can easily be made by boat. I'm sure there almost overnight will come up a lot of ferries transporting cars and goods, so the problem will really solve itself. Read more about Market Towns here. -Wikimedia. |
